  • 20 Common Mistakes People Make With Money
    I am sure everyone can say they have made mistakes in the past with money. I know I hope I can share with my kids mistakes I made so they may avoid them. The below list of some mistakes people commonly make with money are good to take a look at where you are and were you are going. I know with my dad passing away this year really showed me the importance of a Will and about informing family members of your financial affairs.
  • A good example of why to take time with your kids
    It is so important to put our kids first. The story below is a great example of what can happen if we work too much, do our own hobbies too much and not spend enough with our kids. This can apply even if you don't have kids but you are dating someone with kids. Depending on the relationship and time you are around the kids, you should think about giving more of your time to the kids if they want it.
  • A Sad Co-Worker and Friend
    I am not perfect and sometimes I get busy with work and life demands to not always see someone who is sad or worried about something. Do you notice everyone? I know I am trying to make an effort on helping as many people in need as I can. I hope with this Blog Site that we can all work together and help many people out.
  • Are you drowning in Debt?
    Drowning in Debt
    Are you drowning in debt? Do you lose sleep over your money problems. I have talked to many people over the years and each situation was different. But a lot of them did lose sleep, some were afraid to answer the phone or door because they were afraid it was bill collectors, some were afraid to pick up there mail because it may have more bills. We have seen this last few years the increase in foreclosures and bankruptcies. What caused this?
  • Asking for Help and Helping Others in Need
    How well are you able to ask for help? I know I have a hard time asking for help, I like to try to solve most problems on my own. But I am not saying that is the right thing to do, I have since I have gotten older started asking more from my friends for guidance. Do you ask others for help? Why or why not? Do others ask you for help? If they do do you help out?
  • Automakers Future
    I know this is a hot topic with many people. I just heard people at work again talking about the bailout and their views on the future of the Automakers. I hear a lot of people asking questions like "when am I going to get bailed out?'. I know people I have helped with their money issues, debt problems from spending issues, business failure, medical bills to college bills, they would love to have the government give them a bailout. If they would get a bailout it may give them a opportunity to start a new business, travel, remodel their homes or to help others.
  • Avoid Comparing yourself to others
    How often do you find yourself comparing yourself or your life to others? Are there times you say things like, "They are the same age as I am but they are retiring and I am not"... "They are a President and I am a Manager"... "They have only golfed a few years and they golf better than I do" ? It is easy, at times, to feel others are getting the breaks that you aren't. I have heard time and time again about people who are jealous about others houses, jobs, cars, etc. I know when we play golf at my home course I have heard many times from friends about wondering how anyone can afford those houses. They are younger than we are. Then people justify it by saying, yes but they are probably in debt over their heads.
  • Be Happy - Enjoy Every Day
    It is the season to be Happy. I love Christmas time. I feel we should treat everyday like it is Christmas. So many people when you see them look they just lost their dog. Seems like some people are not happy everyday you see them. Some people rarely smile or laugh. Why be so serious? Why not smile and be happy, why not make other people's day and cheer them up? Life is too short not to enjoy everyday, in the long run it is the lives we touch not the assets we acquire.
  • Bring on the new year
    Yea... it is a new year and what could we expect to see in the new year? We all hope it will be a good year for our families, our health and our financial health. Being the first of the year you may be busy getting your information organized to have your taxes done. You may be getting re-cap's in the mail of your year end 401k or IRA accounts. You may have other assets in Mutual Funds or Stocks and getting a year end summary of them. Don't let it bring you down if you had a rough year, it is over. There is nothing that will change it now. But we can look forward to the new year. Here are some things that you could possibly expect to see this year;
  • Children and Parents Relationships
    I have heard so many times over the years from friends that they wish their kids could stay young for ever or be young again. It is so nice when you are the most important thing in the world to your kids. I have two great kids or should I say young adults now. My kids are in College and a Senior in High School. I know I loved the times that I would come home from work and they would come running to me and give warm hugs and kisses, would want to sit on my lap and watch a movie, would want me to play games with them or go to the park. They would have their mom bring them to my work to see me and hang out.
  • Choices and Consequences
    Everyday we have to make decisions. It may be as simple as what to eat for supper to something more complicated. If your choice for supper is nachos and beer you need to be able to live with the consequences of it possibly hurting your health. They say every choice is like a stick. You need to be able to live with the other end. The other end can be the opposite. I had two friends today each share with me a time in their life where they made a choice that changed their life and they wondered if they had not made that choice where would they be.
  • Christmas Budget
    Christmas is coming soon. If you are like I am than you love to give gifts. During Christmas season retailers are doing there best to get us to spend money. They have huge sales and some have special financing available. I was in a store on the famous Black Friday last week. I went to one store and had to park along the road, when I went into the store at 5:30am you could barely walk through the stores. It was a zoo in there, the one item I went to buy from their ad was already sold out. When I walked towards the front they had all the registers going and customers were about four deep at each register. I wonder if all those people had a budget and a plan on what to spend this Christmas?

  • Christmas Poem
    Christmas time is a time of faith and showing others how much we love them. So people it is the only time they go to church. Some people don't like this time of your because they may be single or not able to be with people they love due to work. I know there is a lot of people who do not like to be alone for the holidays. I hear so many people complain about their work schedules, but they don't realize how good their work schedule is. Read the below poem, he could be a way from his loved ones for a long time. I bet he would love to have your work schedule.
  • Complaining comes from forgetting what we have
    I was telling someone today about my book on Debt, Divorce and Dating. I call it The Roller Coaster of Life Series "The three D's of life". The person I was talking to could not quit complaining about how bad they felt their life was. They had golfed badly today and were not happy with their job.
  • Dating on a Budget
    One of the biggest expenses is the entertainment expense. Whether you are single or married you may go on dates from time to time. Most single couples may go out three or four times a week and married couples may go out one to four times a week depending on if they have kids or not. I have met with so many people and entertainment expense has been a expense that they didn't realize how much they were spending on it. There are many dates that people can go out on and it won't break your bank. Here are some ideas;
  • Divorce is not an option article
    On the front page of the In Touch magazine has a head line of "Divorce is not an Option". Then is says "For the first time Jennifer speaks out about trouble with Mark and why she isn't wearing her wedding Ring. I know this could be a touchy article if you are divorced, going through a divorce, married or getting married or want to get married some day. Could Divorce not be a option in a marriage?
  • Don't miss these when doing your taxes
    I know I have been getting all my stuff together for getting my taxes prepared. I have an accountant who does them for me but I still get everything organized for him. I have been working with him for over seven years now. But each year I also try to continue my education and read up up things to not to overlook when doing your taxes. I saw this today;
  • Don't Worry about what People Think
    Are you afraid to shoot for the moon? Are you afraid to make a decision that is not the popular one? How often do you let your friends talk you into something? Friends can try to tell you what you should do at work, at home, at your hobbies and at relationships. Seems like at times people feel they are the expert in your life, they seem to know all the answers. I do like listening to there opinions but I go with my own decision and I don't worry about what others will say. I have faith that God will talk care of it the way he feels is best.
  • Don't Worry Anymore, have Faith
    I know you may be saying "Don't Worry Anymore, are you crazy?". I know I do believe that anything is possible and I want to help others believe also.
  • Every Relationship needs Communication
    Communication skills are one of the keys to life. The greater your communication skills the better your relationships will be. Relationships with your spouse, who you are dating, your kids, your friends, your boss, your co-workers, your customers, etc. They all need good communication in one form or another. • Financial Eduation is very important to Financial Freedom
    How is your Financial Education. I feel it is important to have a good Financial Education to help you reach Financial Freedom. Schools I feel schools need to focus more on Financial Education to help students be more Financially responsible once out of school. The economy down turn may not have effected some families as bad if they had received more of a Financial education when in school. But it is never too late to increase your Financial education no matter what your age is.
  • Finding your purpose in life
    We all could have questions at time what is our purpose in life. What are we supposed to be doing? Who are we supposed to be helping? Are we supposed to have kids? Are we supposed to be married? Are we supposed to coach others? Where are we supposed to work? We all have different interests and desires. I know I feel I am to here to have my two wonderful kids, also to help others, to help inspire others to achieve there dreams. I also like to coach sports to helping people achieve financial freedom. To sum it up I feel one of my purpose in life is to be a problem solver. How to find your purpose:
  • Fireproof Movie
    If you are deciding whether or not to go to the movie called "Fireproof". As you think of Fireproof for your home, how do you Fireproof your relationships? A lot of the items that were brought up was like going to a Gary Smalley seminar. It was intense and very negative at times. It showed some of the ugly side of what some people face when going through a divorce. The movie is a lot more about going through a divorce than fighting fires. This could be a hard movie for some to see if they have just gone through a divorce. I did see a few people walk out of theater during the intense parts. Overall most of the people who went to the movie at the same time as we did seemed to like it. When it was done a lot of people started clapping. Below is a review by the New York Times in more detail.
  • Forgive your Parents, Friends, Co-Workers and others
    Life is too short to go through being mad at someone. Everyone makes a mistake now and then. The mistake could be huge or small. But if God can forgive us then we should forgive others. It is amazing the people I have seen that didn't talk to someone for years because they were mad at them, then they get sick and they finally talk to them. They wasted all those years over who knows what. What a waste of time and energy. Especially family, get over it, family is family. Family will always be your family, friends and co-workers can come and go, Family is always there. Ask your self is what they did that bad to lose time together? If they lied to you or didn't give you something is it that bad? Maybe they didn't want to hurt you. You are still alive, you can enjoy life and share it with others. Forgive and forget I feel is the bast thing to do. Life is way too short. Share it with Family and Friends. It could be a lonely life never forgiving people and just spending most of your time alone and upset. Blaming it on others for your happiness.
