It can affect your self-esteem and your social life. This can be even more so for woman. A woman that has had long healthy hair all her life will find this to most troublesome. The reasons for hair loss and the causes of thinning hair are many and varied. And it does not discriminate between the sexes. Indeed age is really no protection as even teenagers can and do experience thinning hair or even outright baldness. But what are the reasons for hair loss? And what are the causes of thinning hair? The first reason for losing hair could be hormones. In many cases, the hormone DHT damages those hair follicles. Naturally this is present in men and that is why more of them go bald, because of this hormone and their genes. When it comes to women, the hormonal fluctuations could cause low estrogen levels. Estrogen is there in order to regulate and balance DHT. When there is not much estrogen, DHT will have a stronger effect. The top reason for hair loss in most cases is the hormone DHT which damages the hair follicles. This is naturally present in men and those who go bald do so because of both the hormone and their genes. In women, hormonal fluctuations could lead to lower than normal estrogen levels. An overdose of vitamin A can occur and cause hair loss if you take vitamin supplements on your own without checking that the amount is correctly balanced for you. That is why it is important to always go and see a doctor when taking vitamins or minerals in order not to have an overdose. Genetics Some people simply just have it in their genetics to go bald earlier than one would normally. While some believe that baldness can be inherited from one's father that is a myth. Both parents genetics are a key factor in determining if you will be prone to hair loss. If this is the case, then there is a solution of having an increased amount of testosterone to help combat it. Another reason could be poor diet. Diet is essential to all of the cells in your body and this of course includes your hair. And if you have a diet that is high in junk food then you are not giving your body what it needs to function properly, and a knock on effect of this will be that you will lose hair. Some physical reasons for hair loss are hormonal imbalance, vitamin deficiency and menopause. Understanding menopause as one of the causes of thinning hair helps reduce the emotional impact. Making lifestyle changes and possibly taking some supplements can help as well. This is one of the biggest reasons for hair loss. Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is responsible for hair fall for both men and women. Everyone produces DHT but not everybody goes bald this is because some people have more androgen receptors than others in their hair follicles.
