It was not in vain the famed Mughal Emperor Jahangir uttered after imbibing the beauty of Kashmir (spelt Cashmere also): If there is a Jannat (heaven) on earth, it’s here, it’s here, it’s here.”

Formerly one of the largest princely states of India, it is bounded to the northeast by the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang and to the east by the Tibet, to the south by the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, and to the northwest and west by the Pakistani-administered portion of Kashmir. Though Pak-sponsored terrorism had debilitated the
region the past decade, it is back with little scratch to its unrivalled beauty and many honeymooners and Nature-lovers are back to Kashmir to drink in the heady beauty of this land.

When snow-fall begins in winter, Kashmir wraps itself in white sheet. The flower-like snow crusts fill every nook and corner. And in summer-March to May, you get enough sun and cool breeze at night. And, of all, Kashmir’s beauty is most bewitching in winter moonlit night. The scene looks so unreal you will be transported to another world—a
realm where you and your loved one alone will reign.
