Matching the color to your skin is key. Many stores have testers, department stores usually will give you a small sample to take home, and most stores allow returns if the color turns out to be wrong. Test the color in daylight, incandescent light (yellow-based home lighting), and fluorescent light.Liquids vary in how much they cover. But it will usually say on the bottle if the coverage is light, medium, or full. You can personalize liquids further by choosing either an oil-free base, a water-base (good for combination skin), or a moisturizing base.

You can use mineral powder concealer where necessary. If you need a little more coverage just dip your flat concealer brush into your mineral makeup foundation, tap the excess off, and press the remainder into the trouble spot.If your skin is oily you should look for a matte finish, or consider using a mineral finishing powder on top of your mineral foundation. Apply the same way with light, circular brush motions. This will create a pore free natural matte finish. It also helps your foundation stay on longer.

Frequently, a store may have poor lighting or it may be simply that you cannot open up the bottles. But it is important that you remain persistent and do what you must to identify your exact color. If for whatever reason you cannot locate your color, you can always mix two colors and actually make your own.

Mineral foundations are applied with a brush, and the type and quality of brush that you use can have a significant impact on your results.

Using a Kabuki brush (sold wherever mineral makeup is sold), dip the bristles into the makeup. You won't need much of it to use on your face. Tap the handle of the brush against the lid with the bristles facing upwards. This spreads the mineral foundation throughout the bristles of the brush as well as removing any extra from the brush.

Foundation helps to smooth out your skin tone, conceal blemishes and gives you a healthier glow. Applying makeup without a foundation base can actually accentuate unsightly skin problems, rather than conceal them. Choosing and applying foundation should be a simple procedure, but there are pitfalls. Here is an easy step by step guide to choosing and applying foundation.

There were two pamphlets with information about the product were included. One pamphlet was an outline of the good this product does, and the bad a chemical-based make up can do. Very informative! The second pamphlet explained how to use each product Painted Ladies carries, including foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip color, and blush.
