If you can manage a screwdriver, you can put up your own coat rack. All tool boxes have the necessary tools already in it to mount a coat rack. The first thing one needs to decide where you have a requirement for a coat rack, as a rule located adjacent to an entry door. After the location is determined you will wish to determined the elevation starting from the floor to put up your coat hooks. Usual installed heights are around 50 inches for for little ones to utilize and just about 58 inches for adult use. The ultimate elevation will be up to you dependent on your needs.

Find the approximate the middle of the selected position of your coat rack and measure up from the flooring, if you are concerned about marking on the wall or are not positive of the spot place a cut of painters tape on the wall and mark directly on the tape. This precludes putting marks directly on the wall. Using a level, yet again you can use a bubble level set the level or laser on your mark and hold it parallel and mark the ends of the position of the coat rack. If you do not have access to a bubble level or laser you can take a portion of painters tape nearly the measurement of the coat hook and place it on the wall level, get back a short distance and thoroughly observe the painters tape does it look parallel to the floor? if not adjust until you have a nice parallel painters tape line.

Once you get a good level painters tape line to lead you in the putting up of a coat rack. You will need to fix the position the wall studs. The portion of painters tape that was affixed prior is the position to mark the midpoint of each wall stud. A wall stud locator is the typical tool used for fining the position of the wall studs, a stud locator retails for nearly $8.00. Examine the wall over for a nail pop in the drywall or use a magnet to locate a drywall nail. Wall studs are placed every 16 inches.

Our coat rack is now ready to hang up if your coat rack utilizes a through hole installation system, position your coat rack along the earlier created level line located on the painters tape. Using one of the mounting fasteners put it through the mounting hole and put a mark on the wall, do this again this for every mounting hole. If your coat rack requires a key hole mounting system you will need to measure the gap relating to the key holes and shift the measurements to the painters tape. When the key holes are marked you need to drill the fastener key-holes, confirm the fasteners and go for a twist drill bit slightly smaller than the fastener and drill the holes. If you are putting up the coat rack with the trough hole mounting procedure locate the coat rack align with the level line and predrilled holes put in the mounting fasteners and snug them evenly. If you are using the key hole mounting procedure put in the fasteners tighten them in until the head of the fasteners extends out nearly 3/8 of an inch from the wall, put the coat rack over the fasteners and slide down. You’re new coat rack is now ready for use.
