HD DVD is a type of digital optic storage media that makes use of 120mm diameter disc. There are three types of HD DVD; single layer, dual layer and triple layer. Shorter wavelength in an HD DVD helps in maintaining a small spot size of the laser, which helps in reducing diffraction and the amount of data to be read. The reason behind the higher capacity of data storage is the high density of data storage.
